“I don’t like these,” Amy said with a pout as she moved behind her husband, circled her arms around happily him, dropped her chin over his shoulder and studied the card he held in his hand.
“What’s wrong with it?”
“It’s got penguins on them.”
“What’s wrong with penguins?”
“They are not seasonal.”
“Penguins live in snow, snow means winter, winter is Christmas. They’re seasonal enough.”
“Let’s pick a card more festive.”
“Like a Christmas tree or a turkey dinner?”
She scrunched up her face. “Fine! Penguins it is.”
He kissed her hair lightly. “Knew you’d see it my way.”

He would rather not talk about it. What was there to say, really? So, he was killed a million times in a million different ways. So, he was tortured with every death because he felt the pain each time. So, he came back to life each time, even though it always seemed like he couldn’t. No matter the death, Captain Jack Harkness survived. What was there to say to that?
“You can tell me, you know, if you want to say anything.”
Jack said nothing as he buried his face against the back of Ianto’s neck. “I know.”
“But, you wouldn’t, would you? You went through such a gruesome thing.”
“I did,” Jack said softly. “Which is why I don’t want to relive it.”
